Our Journey

The Hub was inspired by our daughter, Darcy who at the age of 15, challenged us to work towards a more sustainable future and put us on a journey we hadn’t envisaged but absolutely love.

Our daughter asked us to avoid plastic packaging and reduce our impact on the environment. We took the challenge but found it difficult to achieve via the usual retail offerings. Life was busy and things got in the way but during Covid lockdown we were able to focus on the things that were really important to us.

We started small by making easy changes in our household and immediately noticed reduced amounts of recycling and rubbish.

Watching documentaries like “Drowning In Plastic” and David Attenborough’s “A Life on Our Planet'“ had a profound impact on our family and it was then we decided that we needed to do more.

At the time, we had both worked in the corporate world for over 20 years, David as a General Counsel and Michelle as an Accountant and Project Manager, but we decided to give up our careers to focus more fully on making an impact and so The Hub was born.

We both love what were are doing and feel like we are making a difference. We are forever grateful to our daughter for leading us to this path.
